DONNELLSON - Central Lee Superintendent Dr. Andy Crozier announced Wednesday evening that the school district will return to 100% in school learning staring Dec. 14 for all grade levels.

He said the district is also planning to be in school on Monday, Dec. 21 and Tuesday, December 22 with a noon dismissal on Tuesday.

"If we modify our school structure for after the holiday break we will make the announcement on Thursday, December 31," Crozier wrote in a letter to district families Wednesday.

"This will allow families five days to make arrangements for their children."

He said school resumes after the holidays on January 5 and the district will continue to monitor the following:

  • The 14-day positivity rate of the county.
  • Percentage of students absent due to illness. Students who are on quarantine are not part of this percentage unless they begin to show symptoms while out of school.
  • Availability of staff for classroom and non-instructional departments.
  • Determination if community spread is happening from student to student in classrooms.

Additionally, the Governor has extended her proclamation through December 16 but has made the following modifications:

  • JH sports and extra-curricular activities can resume starting Friday, December 11.
  • Two tickets per participant will be extended to cheerleaders, dance team, and band members for high school sporting events.
  • Youth sports may continue starting Friday, December 11.

Crozier said even with the Governor's changes the district is not allowing youth sports to use district facilities until Monday, December 28.

"As always, we all need to do our part to slow the spread and ensure students can stay in school. Don’t send your child to school if they are sick. Don’t send your child to school if someone in your immediate family is being tested for COVID. Continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, and practice good hygiene skill," Crozier wrote.
