Mr. Dale Joseph Eckhardt, 87 of rural Dallas City passed away peacefully at his home Monday evening December 7,2020 surrounded by his family.
Dale was born May 6, 1933 at the family home near Dallas City , the son of Joseph Adam and Velna Irene Rockel Eckhardt.
Dale entered the United States Army in 1952, and served in Germany until 1955.

On October 14, 1956, he married Emily Ruth Bollin at the Durham United Methodist Church, in Durham Township.
Dale’s passion was farming, which he was able to enjoy his whole life. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, which could often be overheard in a crowd, or with the fellows at the Durham Coffee Shop. He will be missed by family, many friends and neighbors.
Dale was a lifelong member of the Durham United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being a member of the Dallas City Lions Club, being a Durham Township Trustee, and also a member of the Durham Cemetery Board.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emily, his sons Randy (Kris) and Jeff (Dawn) all of Durham. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jenel Starbuck, Erica (Ryan) Gaines, Dr. Michael Dale (Ashley) Eckhardt, Michelle Howardson, Justin (Kerri) Howardson, Ashley (Joseph) Johnson and seven great-grandchildren Sierra, Alexis Alyssa, Cayden, Mason, Oliver, and Miles Dale.
Mr. Eckhard was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Rodney Lynn, a grandson, SSG Sean Nicholas Howardson and his brother, Bob.
All family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service, with Military Rites, Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:30p.m. at the Durham Cemetery with Revs. Jim Clayton and Lee Unger officiating. A memorial has been established for the Durham United Methodist Church. Banks & Beals funeral Home in LaHarpe is assisting with arrangements.
