Carmen Arnold, 83, of rural Kahoka, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 after a brief illness.
She was born in Sullivan, Missouri to the late Charles Joseph Calvin and Maude Emma (Mullen) Calvin. She attended Sullivan High School and later earned her Bachelor’s in Education from Truman State University.
Carmen married Jerry Arnold in 1962. They would have been married 58 years December 28, 2020. Carmen was a faithful member of the Alexandria Presbyterian Church all of her married life.
Carmen enjoyed playing the piano, getting together with her Saturday night card group, collecting cookbooks and recipes, and supporting the Clark Co. Fair.
Carmen taught school more than 37 years. She continued to enjoy conversations about school topics. She loved running into former students and sharing a memory from her school days at Clark Co. High School and Running Fox Elementary. Carmen thought that education was the most important gift to give a child starting in Kindergarten. She never lost sight of what was best for the kids even continuing her journey on the Clark County School Board.
Carmens greatest treasure was her family. Survivors include her husband Jerry of Kahoka, one brother, Joe Calvin, Ozark, MO, daughter Kassi (Tony) Bogolin, son Brett (Nanook) Arnold, son Mark (Cathy) Arnold. Her cherished grandchildren, Erika (Justin) Hellman, Olivia Bogolin, Emily Bogolin and special friend Ramsey Robertson, Leah (Justin) Flockhart, Rachel Arnold and special friend Ben Wyatt, Hanna Arnold, Mackenzie Arnold, Samantha Arnold, Nolan and Nadia Leveling. Her newest delight, great grandchildren, Kyla, Kasen, Krew Flockhart and Baker Hellmen. Carmen leaves behind brother and sister-n-laws, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
According to her wishes, a private family service will be conducted by DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home on Saturday, December, 12, 2020, at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church, with burial at the Frazee Cemetery, Wayland, MO. Pastor Jim Richardson will officiate and HL Plenge will sing her chosen songs. Visitation without the family present will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 11, from 3 to 7 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing must be practiced and attendance will be limited to 15 people in the building at a time.
