DONNELLSON - Despite having three players score in double figures, the Central Lee boys basketball team dropped another close game Tuesday night at home.

Kade Myhre led the Hawks with 15 points, while Jaxon Betker had 14, and Dylan Stuecker chipped in with a dozen, in a 67-62 loss to visiting Notre Dame.

As has been the case for most of the season, Central Lee started out strong building a 15-12 first quarter lead behind Seth Mayes' six points.

Betker, who's averaging right at 15 points per game, was held scoreless in the first half.

Notre Dame would outscore the Hawks 17-12 in the second quarter taking the lead at 16-15 with four minutes left in the half. Central would take the lead again at 22-21 with a couple minutes left. The Nikes would regain the lead and then pop a 3-pointer in the final minute to take a 29-27 lead into the locker rooms.

Central Lee, who has also run into trouble in the third quarter in many games, again was outscored 18-11 giving Notre Dame a 47-38 lead going into the final period.

Betker would get going in the fourth with 14 points in the final eight minutes, as the Hawks tried to rally. But Notre Dame would hit seven of nine free throws down the stretch to hold on for the 5-point win.

Mayes finished with eight points followed by Kaleb Sanders with seven and Bronson Sargent with six on the night.

Notre Dame guard Matt Johnson had a game-high 22 points. Sam Brueck had 17 for the Nikes. Josh Smith and Jackson Brent each scored 10 in the win.

The Hawks are 1-5 on the year and have lost their last four games by an average of just six points.

Central travels to Fort Madison to take on Holy Trinity Catholic (3-2) on Friday night
