DONNELLSON - Mya Merschman's 27 points weren't enough for the Central Lee girls as Burlington Notre Dame handed the Lady Hawks their fourth loss on the year 62-46 Tuesday night.

Merschman was able to go after tweaking her shoulder over the weekend and kept Central Lee in the game with nine first quarter points.

The squads were tied at 14 heading into the second period, but the Nikes started to put some distance between the two with a 12-2 run that would be stretched to a 20-9 second quarter advantage and a 33-24 lead at halftime.

The Nikes got 11 points in the half from Gabby Deery who tied Karli Artman for team high honors on the night with 16. Reagan Engberg has 12 for Notre Dame.

Central Lee was playing without junior guard Macy Watkins who's averaging just over six points and four boards per outing, but also adds a pressure point on defense.

The Hawks couldn't make a run in the final two periods only getting as close as 12 at 48-36 with a minute to go in the third period.

Ella Sanders has seven for Central Lee, while Makayla Morrison and Kelsie Stewart each added five. Mya Lampe chipped in with two points on the night.

Central Lee falls to 3-4 on the year and travels to Holy Trinity Catholic (2-5) on Friday night.
