States shorted on vaccine allocations

DES MOINES - According to a late release from the Iowa Department of Public Health, the vaccine allotment for the state may be reduced by close to 30%.

"Today the federal government notified the Iowa Department of Public Health that the State of Iowa, as well as all other states, will not receive the volume of vaccine initially anticipated. It appears our allocation may be reduced by as much as 30%, however we are working to gain confirmation and additional details from our federal partners," read a statement from the IDPH released at around 7 p.m.

The release went on to indicate that state officials are working on next steps to adjust planning and will provide updates as soon as information is available.
