Terry Lynn Bode, 73, of Keokuk, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at his home in Keokuk.

Terry was born on January 2, 1947, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of the late Merle and Ann (Dietrich) Bode. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1965. Terry was united in marriage to Paula Shaul Henson, and they were later divorced.

Terry was employed at Foote Mineral in Keokuk for twenty-five years, and also worked as a police officer for the Keokuk Police Department for ten years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Keokuk, where he spent the majority of his time. He could often be found solving the world’s problems at the Elks bar, where he was a fixture. After retirement, Terry spent his time golfing, playing cards, binging crime shows on television, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Hawkeyes, or finishing large quantities of crossword puzzles. He also had a knack for remembering the birthday of everyone he knew. Terry was also a wonderful family man and helped his son when he owned the Shooters Bar in Keokuk.

Terry is survived by his son Brian (Amy) Bode of Keokuk; his daughter Melissa Jo Bode of Vancouver, Washington; six grandchildren: Brett and Cameron Petersen, Bailey and Kerrigan Bode, and Logan and Jayme Bode; seven great-grandchildren: Damian Anderson, Greyson Bode, Brayden, Bowyn and Brycen Petersen, and Ashtyn and Adrian Bode; two sisters: Violet Land of Keokuk and Debbie Symmonds of Hamilton, Illinois; his brother Ron Bode of Donnellson, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
