Joanne Brisby, 81, of Keokuk, Iowa died at 1:30 am, January 7, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was born July 8, 1939 in Newark, New Jersey to Lawrence and Emma (Temps), Anderson, Newman. She married Robert (Bud) Brisby on April 21, 1957. He preceded her in death March 28, 1999. She is survived by two daughters Gina Brisby of Ames, Iowa; and Marcey Wrieden and her husband Jamie of Crystal Beach, Texas. Four grandchildren, Trenton Brisby and wife Renee of Ames, Iowa; Morgan Whatley and husband Aaron of Bonne Terre, Missouri; Paige Stamper and Kelsey Stamper of Keokuk, Iowa. Great grandchildren Harrison and William Brisby; and Zaria Whatley. Sister Leota Stables of Birmingham, Alabama; brother James Anderson of Jacksonville, Florida; half-brother Jim Kirkhart of Altlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law Neva Deiling of Keokuk, Iowa; brother- in-law John Walker of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also proceeded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and one half-brother in infancy.
She lived in Keokuk most of her life. She was owner and stylist of His n’ Her Hair Salon which she opened in 1982.
Joanne enjoyed watching western and crime shows, loved dancing with her husband, playing cards with friends and family, time on the river, camping, and solving crosswords and Sudoku. She would light up when spending time with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dejong-Greaves-Printy funeral home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
