FORT MADISON - The Holy Trinity Catholic girls basketball team got down 10-2 just two minutes into Friday's game and that set the tone for the night.
Notre Dame rolled to an easy 70-28 win over the Crusaders in a game that featured a running clock most of the second half with the Nikes coming out of the locker room up by 32 at 43-11.
Holy Trinity had cut the lead to five at 12-7 midway through the first period, but Notre Dame would run away with the contest from that point on, holding HTC scoreless for the next nine minutes building a 37-9 lead.
Maria Rauenbuehler led Holy Trinity with nine points. Brooke Mueller had eight and Mary Hellige scored six. The Crusaders got two points from Kassi Randolph and Reagan Holvoet and a free throw from Natalie Randolph.
Reagan Engberg had 14 for Notre Dame. Megan Harrell scored a dozen and Katy Stephens and Karli Artman each put in 10 for the Nikes.
Holy Trinity falls to 4-12 in Southeast Iowa Superconference South action and 5-16 overall. Notre Dame still has just one loss on the year and stands at 11-1 in loop play and 15-1 overall.
