Dennis Wayne Brumbaugh, 68, of Dallas City, IL passed away Thursday, February 4th, 2021 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born April 6, 1952 to Robert and Anna Mae Brumbaugh in Belleville, IL. He graduated from Dallas City H.S. in 1970 and married his High School sweetheart, Kathy Ferrill. They celebrated over 47 years of marriage together.
He worked at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison, Iowa for 32 years working as a Supervisor and as a Prison Guard. Dennis served over 22 years in the Iowa National Guard and Army Reserves, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. While company commander for Company D, his unit was activated as a part of Operation Desert Storm.
Dennis was a proud family man, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, including: England, Scotland, the Smoky mountains, family vacations to Destin, FL, and snow birding in Arizona. Dennis loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar, was a master trumpeter, played in the praise band at church, and could often be found listening to his records, especially the Beatles. He enjoyed playing golf, was a Cowboys fan, and loved watching or listening to Cardinals baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mike. Survivors include wife, Kathy; son Eric; daughter Amy (Irakli) Shengelia; son Adam (Heidi); grandchildren, Nikolas; David; Maximus; Aubrey; Jackson; Liberty; Sadie; and Annika.
While no formal visitation is planned, friends are welcome to call at the Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, IL on Saturday, 2/13/21 from 1pm-6pm. A private Celebration of Life for the family is scheduled on Sunday, 2/14/21 at 1pm. In recognition of his service to our country, a flag presentation and Taps will be performed as part of the celebration.
