DONNELLSON - Central Lee senior Mya Merschman passed Van Buren's Isabel Manning Monday night with the Hawks' 31-point performance in a 65-53 win over WACO.

Merschman now has 569 points on the year 19 ahead of Manning, who was idle Monday night after Van Buren's game with Burlington Notre Dame was cancelled.

Ella Sanders threw in 13 for the Hawks in the win.

Central Lee opened a quick 17-11 lead in the first quarter and pushed that lead to 40-25 at the end of the first half.

The Lady Hawks would build leads as much as 21 in the 3rd, but WACO would put together a rally in the fourth quarter.

Starting down 19 at 53-34, the Warriors would outscore Central Lee 19-10 by roughing up Merschman and sending her to the free throw line where the senior hit five of eight, but didn't have a field goal in the final period.

Sanders would come up big with seven points down the stretch to help keep the Warriors at arm's length for the win.

WACO's Morgan Graber would score nine of her team-high 17 in the fourth quarter to help spur the rally.

The Hawks (7-6 SEISC, 12-8 overall) got nine from Alivia Myhre on the night. Makayla Morrison and Maura Watkins each had six in the win.

Central Lee has won four in a row and six of their last seven going into Saturday's Class 3A Regional quarterfinal at home against Mid Prairie.
