Holy Trinity boys finish with win at L-M

LETTS - The Holy Trinity boys finished their regular season on a positive note with a 54-39 win over Louisa-Muscatine in the Southeast Iowa Superconference Shootout Friday night.

Vasin Thurman and Jason Thurman combined for 33 points to usher in the win. Chandler Rung was also in double figures with 13 points.

The Crusaders broke open a 2-2 tie with three minutes gone to go up by 3 and never looked back building leads as much as eight in the first half and taking a 25-17 lead into the locker room.

The HTC defense held the Falcons to just six poins in the third while pushing their own lead to 19 before Head Coach John Hellige got into the bench for the final four quarters.

Kadin Medland had five points and Mitchell Pothitakis had a 3-pointer to round out the scoring for HTC.

The Crusaders finished the season at 8-8 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference South Division, while moving to one game over .500 at 11-10 overall.

Vasin Thurman finished the regular season with 387 points, tops on the team for HTC. Jason Thurman had 240 on the year, while Chandler Rung was right behind with 234.

The Crusaders open Class 1A Substate 4, District 8 action Monday night against Danville at Danville at 7 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Springville/WACO at Springville on Feb. 18.
