Dianne Claire (Delaney) Huddlesonpassed away due to covid complications at the University of Iowa Hospital ICU on Thursday February 11, 2021. Dianne stayed strong against insurmountable odds, until her husband Bruce could be at her bedside.
A lifetime resident of Fort Madison, Dianne was born March 5, 1957 to Don and Dorothy (Leveling) Delaney. She graduated from Aquinas High School (Fort Madison, IA) in 1975. While in high school she learned about sales and customer service at Kessler’s Dress shop in Fort Madison. 1975-1977 she studied to be a teacher at Quincy College. She returned to Kessler’s. In 1978 she started 38 years of service in the accounting department at Dial Corporation. In late 2006 she joined the Fort Madison branch of Pilot Grove Savings Bank, becoming branch manager. On June 25, 1983 Dianne made Bruce her lifelong love. For some Dianne answered to Aunt Di or Favorite Aunt Di. Others referred to her as Mrs. Huddleson, Mrs. Hud, Mrs. H. To many Dianne was known as “the caramel brownie lady”. To all she was known as caring and empathetic. For 27 years Dianne served her hometown as the “concession workers organizer” for Aquinas Schools at the Tri-state Rodeo.
Dianne loved to travel; believed in Hilton Magic; was curious about those guys in kilts; rodeoed at the STAMPEDE; fawned over her nieces and nephews (“the kids”); considered Bruce’s students and athletes as “our kids”; religiously followed her nieces’ and nephews’ activities; could be sassy; recalled everyone’s birthday with a card and cherishished all your cards; and focused on the needs of family andothers above self. Forever Irish, a Don and a Cyclone.
