James “Jim” M. Fuget,83 of Ft. Madison, passed away at 4:39 PM on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital.

He was born on December 14, 1937 in Ft. Madison to Elmer and Estella Walker Fuget.On June 17, 1961 he married Beverly Shacklett in Ft. Madison.Jim was a Fireman for the City of Ft. Madison and retired in 2000 after thirty four years of service.He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Jim loved spending time on the farm and being outdoors.On his days off from the Fire Department, Jim worked construction, roofing houses and helping Vern Peck. He enjoyed woodworking and his daily trips to Casey’s and Hy-Vee for coffee.His greatest love of all was his family, especially his grandchildren.

   Survivors include his wife, Beverly Shacklett of Ft. Madison; two sons, Curt (Dana) Fuget of Streator, IL and Shawn (Deb) Fuget of Ft. Madison; five grandchildren, Andy, Brad, Kyle, Justin and Kendra and one sister, Sharon Schiver of Copperas Cove, TX.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kevin; brother, Tom and brother-in-law, Jimmy Shacklett. 

   The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Jon Heyland officiating.  The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
