Billie Lee Ann Brecheen, 82, of Montrose, IA died from Metastatic Breast Cancer Friday, February 12, 2021 at her home with family. 

     She was born January 5, 1939 in Wichita Falls, TX the daughter of Thurmond Oscar and Frances Mildred Martin Roberts.  She graduated from Wichita Falls High School.

     On May 14, 1960 she was united in marriage to Joel Stanton Brecheen in Wichita Falls, TX.  He survives.

     Other survivors include one daughter, JoDee Ann Krotz and her husband, Douglas of Montrose, IA, one son Byron Brecheen of Lawton, OK and two grandchildren, Jake and Emme Krotz of Fort Worth, TX.   

     Billie was a skilled seamstress who was an active member and co-founder of "SEW Touching." The group was founded to make fidget quilts for Alzheimer patients.  She was also a member of the Arlington Quilt Guild and created beautiful quilts many of which were distributed to sick children at Cooks Children’s Hospital. The quilt she made her daughter "Sunshine On My Shoulders" gleaned a second place ribbon from her Quilt Guild in Texas. 

     Billie enjoyed art, collecting antiques and sewing.  She was a nature lover and enjoyed watching birds.  She was generous with her time and talents and was a willing volunteer.  She always saw the beauty in all circumstances and was the apple of her family’s eye.

     A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Montrose, IA. Private family burial will follow in the Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, IA.  Masks will be required and social distancing is encouraged.

     There will be no visitation.
