Wanda I. Owens Perry Boyer, 97 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 7:16 pm Thursday, February 25, 2021 at The Kensington, Fort Madison. She was born March 4, 1923 at Sandusky, Iowa, a daughter of Oscar Earl and Freda I. (Hancock) Owen. On November 9, 1942, she married Manford David Perry at Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death November 21, 1988. On September 13, 1997, she married Charles N. Boyer. He preceded her in death June 13, 2008.

     After high school, Wanda worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company.  Wanda and Manford moved to Valparaiso, Indiana after WWII.  She worked in the bookkeeping departments at J.C. Penney at Fort Madison and Valparaiso for nine years.  She was the Assistant Vice President of the First National Bank, Portage Branch, of Valparaiso for 20 years.  After living in Indiana for over 40 years, they returned to Fort Madison to retire.  Throughout the years, she volunteered at the local elementary schools helping students with their reading, and also volunteered as a “pink lady” at the hospitals, sometimes in the family waiting area of the surgical department and the gift shop.  She was a member of PEO-BS Chapter, Historical Society and the Fort Madison United Methodist Church circles.  She loved all types of music and sang in the Fort Madison United Methodist Church choirs for over 48 years.  At home there was always music playing in the background, quite often the big band tunes.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts and loved cooking and baking.

     She is survived by her son, David (Sue) Perry, of Valpraiso, Indiana; two step-sons: Mike (Karen) Boyer, of California; Jeff (Teri) Boyer, of Littleton, Colorado; one step-daughter, Barbara (Keith) Caro, of Parker, Colorado; one son-in-law, Clarence Unternahrer, of Ainsworth, Iowa; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Davin) Lindner-Green, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado;, of Ainsworth, Iowa; Matthew Perry, of Valparaiso, Indiana; Adam (Tracie) Perry, of Valparaiso, Indiana; Douglas (Erin) Perry, of West Lafayette, Indiana; seven step-grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren, one great great granchchild, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, daughter Linda Unternahrer; daughter-in-law Susan Perry; one step-son Steven Boyer, one brother Keith Duane Owen, three sisters, Norma Lee Morton, Lolita Curtiss and Nedra O’Neil, and one granddaughter Julie Lindner-Reid.

Her family will greet friends 9:30 - 10:30 am Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, funeral services will follow and begin at 10:30 am Saturday with Rev. Kayle Lange-Carney and Jan Garza officiating.  Private burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Madison.   A memorial has been established for the Fort Madison United Methodist Church and the Washington United Methodist Church, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Perry - Boyer family and online condolences may be made at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
