FORT MADISON - A 62-year-old man from Gladstone was killed as a result of a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 61 southbound just north of the Hwy. 2 exit Tuesday evening.

According to Iowa State Patrol reports, Andy Joe Annegers, was killed when the Zetor tractor he was driving was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Robert Lavern Keith, 25, of Fort Madison.

The ISP report said Keith, driving a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix approached Annegers vehicle from behind and collided with the tractor's rear. The tractor then went into the ditch on the west side of the road.

The report says Annegers was not wearing a seat belt, or if a seat belt was available in the tractor. Annegers was transported by Schmitz Funeral Home to Ankeny, Iowa.

No citations were reported on the ISP crash report. ISP officials in Mt. Pleasant said the accident is still under investigation.
