Area high schoolers sharpen interview skills

KEOKUK - Area students got a chance to see what industrial and service interviews look like in the real world Thursday afternoon.

Lee County Economic Development Group's Dana Millard said eight area high school juniors and seniors participated in a mock interview session at Keokuk High School.

The interviews was part of the LCEDG's 12-Plus program, which is an employability class that connects high school students and local careers.

Each student interviewed with two different businesses and received feedback on the sessions.

"These students are learning skills they will use throughout their lives and are interacting withlocalemployers at the same time," Millard said.

This is the 5th year LCEDG has hosted Mock Interview Day as part of the 12-Plus program with several of the mock interviews resulting in internships or job opportunitiesafter students graduate.

Employers included Independent Can Company, Siemens Gamesa, Liberty Utilities, Henniges Automotive, ISU Extension, and Voc. Rehab.
