Hounds take 4x400 at Panther Relays

MT. PLEASANT - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds captured one event Thursday's at the Mt. Pleasant Panther Co-Ed Relays.

Brock Califf, Garrett Hannum, Dayton Davis and Landes Williams raced to a time of 3:41.26 in the 4x400 for the only top finish on the day for the Hounds.

"These guys are really running well and competing well for us in all their events," said Coach Chad Hannum.

Jakob McGowan had several top five finishes with a 2nd place leap in the long jump at 19-6.5". He also took 4th place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.14.

Hannum got the other top three finish with a 1:01.61 in the 400 hurdles.

Ethan Deacon continues to land on the leaderboard in field events. The senior finished fourth in the shotput with a 44-3" heave, and in the discuss with a 131-5" throw.

Hayden Wolf took 4th in the 3200 with an 11:44.63.

Freshman John Cottrell took 5th in the 3200 with a time of 12:02.33 in his first shot at the eight-lap race.

"We're excited to see how John improves as he gains some race experience," Hannum said.

Rounding out the top five finishes for Fort Madison were: Mikey DiPrima with a 19-2.5" leap on the long jump; the 4x100 team of Gavin Wiseman, McGowan, Joey Dodson and Kane Williams with a time of 47.78; and the 800 medley relay team of Wiseman, Dodson, Calem Maclearn and Califf at 1:43.92

Macaden Rhoer finished the 110 high hurdles at 18.66 good enough for sixth place. The Hounds 4x200 team of Califf, McGowan, Davis and DiPrime took sixth at 1:36.92. The distance medley team of Maclearn, Chay Smith, Teague Smith and Nik Fullenkamp took sixth at 4:17.98, while the shuttle hurdle relay team of Kane Williams, Hayden Segoviano, Smith and Henry Wiseman keeps getting better with a sixth place finish at 1:15.91.

Dayton Davis took 6th in the high jump at 5-8".

Hounds setting personal bests on Thursday were Cuyrin Ross in the discus at 102-6"; Fullenkamp in the 200 dash at 25.96; Segoviano in the 400 at 59.08; Camerson Shutwell in the 1600 with a time of 5:55.48. and Kane Williams in the long jump leaping 17-8".
