Fertilizer plant to have onsite safety training in April

WEVER - The Iowa Fertilizer Company will be holding safety training response drills during the month of April, the first of which will take place Wednesday morning.

According to a company spokesperson, the drills will involve area local response teams along with a helicopter landing at the facility.

The drills are planned for Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Thursday April 15 from 10 a.m to 11 a.m.; Monday April 19, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; and Tuesday, April 27th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Area residents and motorists should be aware of the additional activity at the plant.

"The trainings are part of the company's long-term plan and commitment to the safety of the community," the spokesperson wrote in an email to Pen City Current Tuesday morning.
