Young Hounds take 3rd at Fairfield three-way

FAIRFIELD - Tyler Wade carded a 49 on the par 35 Fairfield Country Club course Monday night to lead a young Fort Madison squad to a 3rd place finish at a triangular with Keokuk and Fairfield.

The Hounds are returning just one golfer from the 2019 season, after 2020 was shuttered by the pandemic, and playing five freshman and sophomores on this year's squad. Wade had bogies on holes 6 and 9.

Seth Mendez shot a 51. Mendez had three bogies, but put up a triple on the par 4 8th hole.

Hunter Cresswell shot a 55, Michael Hollister carded a 63, Jordan Simpson had a 69 and Emmett Kruse came in with 70 for the Hounds.

Fairfield's Max Wheaton was the medalist at the event with a 4-over 39 for the Trojans. Sam Wheaton was runner-up with a 40.

Keokuk was led by Jordan Sisk who shot a 6-over 41, including a double bogey on the par 5 9th to take him out of medal contention. Luke Davis shot a 49 for the Chiefs.
