FMCH reopens main entrance Monday

Fort Madison Community Hospital will reopen the Main FMCH hospital entrance starting Monday, April 12, 2021. 

All patients and visitors to the FMCH campus must enter through one of the following open entrances where they will be screened for COVID-19. Masks are required for entry into the facility:

  • Main FMCH hospital entrance – open Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Main Clinic entrance – open Monday through Friday (far right door) 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday (center door- screening will take place at the Main Clinic registration desk) 8:00 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Emergency department entrance – open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Center – open Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for therapy and orthopedic patients and community members using the indoor walking track.

Patients with appointments in the FMCH Clinics may have one support person accompany them to their appointments.  They must remain in the room with the patient.  Radiology patients may be accompanied by one support person who should remain in the designated waiting area, one support person is allowed in the room for obstetrical ultrasounds.  Patients having same day surgery may have one support person, who must remain in the patient’s room or the designated waiting area.

Emergency department adult patients may have one support person with them; pediatric patients may have both parents accompany them. Additional visitors may be allowed based on clinical patient situations.

Patients staying on the medical/surgical unit may have one visitor per day; the visitor may be a different each day of the patient’s stay.  Pediatric patients may have both parents visit.  Visiting hours have been extended to 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Exceptions may apply based upon each patient’s situation. Patients in the Birthplace may now have two birth support people accompany them during their stay.

All visitors must be at least 18 years of age or older. Please do not visit or act as a support person if you are feeling ill. The support of our patients in adhering to these visitor restrictions is vital to the safety and health of our community.
