FORT MADISON - A rain shortened tourney showed some the new found spike of the Fort Madison Bloodhounds boys soccer team.

The boys moved to 2-1 on the year, with the only loss being to top-ranked Class A Burlington Notre Dame in overtime in the season opener. Before officials canceled the six-team tourney Saturday morning, the Hounds were able to get 10-0 mercy win over Mt. Pleasant in the opener.

"We were able to play the first games in the rain before it was decided that the fields were getting too full of water to safely continue," Head Coach Kevin Wellman said.

Xander Wellman had three goals and an assist, all in a 7-0 first half to lead Fort Madison. Mitchell Pothitakis had two goals, one unassisted with just six minutes gone in the second half to secure the 10-point rule. He also had three assists in the win. Jacob Pothitakis had two goals just two minutes apart in the second half and an assist.

Leif Boeding had two goals and Nathan Bowen added a score to round out the goals for Fort Madison.

Keokuk lost to Clear Creek Amana in the only other official game on the books with that game being called five minutes into the second half. State rules indicate a game can stand as complete if the first half is completed.

FM Head Coach Kevin Wellman said the remainder may be rescheduled if a suitable date for everyone can be found.

The Hounds travel to Keokuk Monday for a conference match.
