Mary Catherine Trout (O’Brien), beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed with family surrounding her on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:38 a.m. Mary was born in Dallas City, Illinois on October 23, 1924, the daughter of the late John O’Brien and Thelma Steele, sister to Alyce Lair and the late Ardys Gray.

Mary graduated from Dallas City High School in 1943. Not long after, she met and married the love of her life, the late John E. Trout on August 23, 1945. The couple lived in Dallas City most of their lives, building a wonderful family of four children.

To anyone who knew Mary knew she was a wonderful soul and that she loved her family with all of her heart. She always had so many wonderful stories to share and up until the end she still had her spry sense of humor. She will be missed by many, but her light will shine on through the family that she created with her beloved husband.

Mary was preceded in death by her eldest son, Carl Emerson Trout, and two son-in-laws, the late Ronnie McDowell and Mike Brandon. She is survived by her son James Robert Trout and her daughters Carole Elaine McDowell and Sandra K. Brandon. From her three surviving children she was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Byler Cemetery, 1950 East County Road 2600, Dallas City, Illinois. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established for the Sunday School program at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ft. Madison, Iowa, PAWS Animal Shelter or the Great River Hospice House.
