LEE COUNTY - Lee County Health Department has cancelled their Saturday April 17th Johnson & Johnson drive-thru vaccine clinic due to the recent pause by the CDC and FDA.
A new clinic has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 24th from 8:00 am-Noon at LCHD (#3 John Bennett Drive, Fort Madison). The Moderna vaccine will be the only vaccine offered at this clinic. A second dose clinic for those who receive their first dose on April 24th will be set for May 22nd at the same time and location.

“When we received notice of the need to pause use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine, our department immediately went to work on rescheduling employer-based clinics and our large Saturday clinic planned for this week” states Michele Ross, LCHD Administrator.
“In collaboration with Iowa Department of Public Health we were able to secure additional doses of the Moderna vaccine to be delivered by the first of next week. This has allowed us to move our Saturday clinic to the 24th. Our LCHD team and volunteers have been very dedicated at making sure people have an opportunity to be vaccinated and has planned the Saturday clinic to increase access to those who have difficulty attending clinics during the week day.”

For the April 24th clinic, no appointments will be necessary. The clinic will be a drive-thru. Those coming to the clinic will enter north of the old prison off of 1st Street, behind Putt-A-Round, and will wind their way through the back part of the old prison down to the clinic area.

LCHD is strongly encouraging anyone 18 years of age and older attending the clinic to print and fill out the registration paperwork before arriving at clinic to help keep clinic flow moving.  Paperwork can be found on the LCHD website, www.leecountyhd.org.  Please also review the Moderna fact sheet for recipients and caregivers prior to the clinic which is also available on the website.

A reminder since this is an open clinic people are asked to be respectful to those around them, and use caution when driving slowly through the clinic area.  We also ask all people to wear masks when talking with our clinic staff, and put their vehicle in park when stopped for safety purposes.
