Task force makes felony meth arrest

LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reports the arrest of a Keokuk man on Felony and Misdemeanor drug charges.

John Soper, 49, of Keokuk Iowa was arrested on April 13th, 2021 near the intersection of 18th St. and High St. in Keokuk, Iowa. Soper was arrested for 3 outstanding warrants for Delivery of more than 5 grams of methamphetamine a Class B Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent offense a Class D Felony, and unlawful possession of prescription pills a Serious Misdemeanor.

The arrest of Soper stems from a traffic stop conducted by the Keokuk Police Department following reports of a disturbance in the area. Soper’s delivery charges stem from an ongoing investigation by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force of Soper selling methamphetamine in the Lee County area.

The Keokuk Police Department, Lee County GHOST, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Lee County Attorney’s Office, assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in this investigation. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Justice and the funds administered by the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy.
