Hawks knock off Keokuk in double OT

DONNELLSON - The Central Lee boys got a goal in double overtime from Seth Mayes to knock off visiting Keokuk 3-2 Friday night.

Mayes scored on a pass from Mason Schau at the 22:27 mark in the second overtime to end the thriller. Schau also scored the game-tying goal at the end of regulation on a penalty kick.

Both teams went scoreless in the first OT period. Mayes scored the Hawks other goal unassisted with 21:30 gone in the first half.

Keokuk scored both of their goals in the second half at 32 minute mark and the 20 minute mark to take the lead, before Schau tied it up on the penalty kick.

Blake Moeller had nine saves in the net for Central Lee who moves to 2-1 overall and even at 1-1 in Southeast Iowa Superconference action.

Central Lee boys take on Hillcrest Academy on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. kick.
