Thelma Lucille Jefferson, 64, of Keokuk, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, at Blessing Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.

Thelma was born on April 22, 1956, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse J. and Twila Lucille (Perkins) Jefferson. Thelma graduated from Keokuk High School in 1975. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Keokuk and worked at the Convalescence Center in Keokuk as a nurse’s aide. She enjoyed spending her free time camping, driving and walking around town, or sitting on her porch watching the cars go by. Thelma loved watching both the St. Louis Cardinals and the cardinal birds outside her window.

Thelma is survived by her daughter Donna Jefferson of Keokuk; five siblings: Margaret Ann Miller of Texas, David Jefferson of Texas, Linda Meyers of Keokuk, Daniel (Dorothy) Jefferson of Keokuk, and Carolyn Mendenhall of Keokuk; her brother-in-law Robert K. Tripp of Keokuk; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, her sister Patricia Tripp, her brothers Robert Jefferson and William Mitchell, a nephew and a niece.

Thelma’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 11 am on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the Salvation Army in Keokuk, with Major Leanna Tuttle and Captain Linda Faye Jones officiating. Visitation will be held at the Salvation Army from 10 to 11 am on Thursday directly before the service.

Memorials may be directed to the family in care of Donna Jefferson.
