Walter Leo “Rick” Kurowski, Jr., 72, of Bonaparte, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, at his home in Bonaparte.
He was born on October 27, 1948, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Walter Sr. and Mary (Kolis) Kurowski. On October 2, 1994, he married Mary A. Lowe in Shiloh, Illinois.
Survivors include his wife: Mary; one daughter: Robin (Diane) Morgan of Largo, Florida; one grandson: Jonathon (Lauren) Morgan; cousin whom he was close to: Kevin Kolis and many other cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rick was a United States Army Vietnam veteran. He worked as a union pipe fitter and was a member of the Polish War Vets and the Farmington American Legion. Rick loved his cat “Hobo”, hunting, fishing and trivia.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington with Reverend Robert Yandle officiating. Following his funeral, a video of the service will be posted on his obituary page under his “Tribute Wall” atwww.schmitzfuneralhomes.com.
There will be a luncheon following at the Farmington American Legion where full military rites will be presented by the Farmington American Legion Richard - Anthony Post #231.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family or the Farmington American Legion.
