Cashman receives P.E.O. Star honor

FORT MADISON - Kylee Cashman, daughter of Lee and Leann Cashman, and a senior at Fort Madison High School, was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter JO of Fort Madison, Iowa.
The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional high school senior women to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. The competitive STAR Scholarship is for women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success.

CASHMAN

Kylee is the Co-Student Body President for the FMHS Student Government, Vice President of Varsity Club, Vice President of the National Honor Society, and Editor of the Yearbook. She has also participated in Volleyball, Basketball, Track, and Softball while at FMHS. She plans to attend the University of Dubuque this fall where she has committed to play softball and plans to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice and Pre-law. From there she plans to attend the University of Iowa to get her law degree and ultimately become a Criminal Justice Attorney.
Chapter JO has been a part of the Fort Madison community since it was organized in March of 1947.
P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) has been celebrating women helping women reach for the stars for more than 150 years. What started with a bond of friendship among seven women in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is now one of the oldest women’s organizations in North America with close to 6,000 chapters.
