CR man identified in Tuesday fatality

LEE COUNTY - A motorcyclist killed in an morning accident at the intersection of Hwys. 16 and 218 has been identified as a Cedar Rapids man.

Ronald Gerard Jurgens, 55, of Cedar Rapids died when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an Chevrolet SUV at the intersection.

Jurgens was southbound on 218 when he struck the SUV broadside as it was crossing the intersection eastbound.

A full accident report hasn't been released. Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber said an investigation into the accident is on going. No charges have yet been filed in the incident.

The driver of the SUV was also taken by ambulance to Fort Madison Community Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

AirEvac was dispatched to the accident.

Houghton Cedar Township Fire & Rescue, along with Lee County EMS Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Transportation all assisted at the scene.
