FMMS girls compete at state track meet

GILBERT - Some of the Fort Madison 7th and 8th grade girl's competed in the Mike Henderson Junior High State Track Meet in Gilbert, Iowa over the weekend.
The 7th grade Bloodhounds finished 13th in the combined 3A-4A team competition racking up 19 points. Dynasty Bell-Washington led the way with a 3rd-place performance in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.41. She also teamed up with Mara Smith, Dayonna Davis, and Avery Rump to finish 3rd in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:33.55, shaving six seconds off their previous season bests.
Avery Rump added a 4th-place finish in the 1500-meter run in a season best 5:13.73. Mara Smith got a 5th-place finish in the 200-meter hurdles with a time of 32.73. The distance medley relay consisting of Ellie Huebner, Davis, Caralena Crooks, and Addison Rump rounded out the scoring finishing in 6th place with a season-best time of 4:58.31.
Other top performances were Smith 1:05.85 (7th) in the 400-meter dash, Davis 19.21 (7th), in the 100-meter hurdles, Bell-Washington 24-8" (8th) in the shot put and 29.37 (10th) in the 200-meter, Huebner 2:46.95 (10th) in the 800 meter, Addison Rump 5:55 (13th) in the 1500 meter, and Caralena Crooks 1:11.92 (14th) in the 400 meter.
Three 8th grade Bloodhounds also competed. Hailey Kemper led with a long jump of 13-11.5" to finish in 8th place, and she added two 11th-place finishes in the 200-meter hurdles (33.42) and the 200 meter (30.25) and a 15th-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (18.23). Lillian Gelsthorpe competed in the 200 meter finishing in 30.25 (13th), the 100 meter in 14.37 (15th), the long jump (11-11), and the 400 meter (1:12.79).
Allison Lamb competed in the 100 (16.47), the 400 meter (1:14.80), and the 800 meter (3:00.44).
