DONNELLSON - The Central Lee boys soccer season came to end with a Class 1A substate 5 loss to Hillcrest Thursday night, 2-0.

The Hawks got five saves from keeper Blake Moeller, but were shut out on the offensive end.

Hillcrest scored back-to-back goals in the first half finding the net with 8:49 left, then got a quick steal on the next possession and scored just :42 later to set the final.

Central Lee finished the season with a respectable 5-7 overall mark and went 3-4 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference.

The Hawks lost to Danville in a tight 4-3 game in the quarterfinals of the SEISC tournament at Burlington Notre Dame Friday. The game was tied at 3 at the end of regulation with the Hawks getting goals from Mason Schau off a free kick, and two from Set Mayes on assists from Cole Krehbiel.

The final goal with 10:53 left in the 2nd half knotted things up. Neither team would score in the first or second overtime forcing a penalty-kick shoot out

Schau made the first kick for Central Lee, but Danville answered. The Bears would then convert their next two, while the Hawks failed to find the back of the net for a 3-1 lead in the penalty-kick session, and win on the tiebreaker 4-3.

Moeller had 12 saves in the game.
