Loretta Dian Schaffer, 72, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the University of Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

     She was born September 16, 1948 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Rudolph and Viona May Cooper.   She graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School in Keokuk.  

     Following graduation she was employed by St. Joseph Hospital where she trained as an X-Ray technician.  In later years, she worked for Methode Electronics and for Pinkerton and Wackenhut Security Services.  

     Loretta is survived by her longtime partner, Kenny Davis one son, Tom Schaffer (Angie) of Colcord, OK, one daughter, Emily Carter (Dave) of Quincy, IL, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, Rudy Cooper (Debbie) of Keokuk.  She is also survived by one aunt, one nephew, two great-nieces and one great-nephew and several cousins.  

     Loretta loved animals, was a people person and will be greatly missed.   

     Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Carole and a brother Don.

     A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 1-3 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with family meeting with friends at that time. The family encourages those attending the service to dress casual in honor of Loretta.
