FORT MADISON - Little new information was released Tuesday regarding the shooting that took place at Ivanhoe Park Monday evening in Fort Madison.

Police officials said Tuesday the name of the victim is being withheld out of privacy to the 31-year-old man who was shot in the leg at about 6:50 p.m. Monday night.

The shooting took place while Doherty Baseball Academy was holding drills at the park's baseball diamond. Several adults with the program administered first aid until help arrived at the scene. The assailants are reported to have fled the scene in a vehicle.

Fort Madison Police are seeking arrest warrants for the suspect in the case. The investigation has revealed that there was a connection between the victim of the shooting and the assailant. But the name of the suspect is being withheld until an arrest has been made.

Members of the Lee County Sheriff's Department and the Fort Madison Police Department were searching for the suspect Monday night and had several leads on vehicles, but no arrests were made.

Lee County EMS and Fort Madison Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene Monday.
