James Charles “Jim” Brown, 55, of Montrose, IA died Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital in Ft. Madison, IA. 

He was born January 11, 1966 in Keokuk, IA the son of Charles and Nancy Evans Brown.Jim graduated from Central Lee High School with the class of 1984.

     Jim was united in marriage to Jennifer Thurman in Keokuk on February 2, 2002.  They later divorced on August 1, 2011.

     Jim had been employed at Steel Castings for eighteen years and later at Auto Zone, both in Keokuk. Most recently he was the owner and operator of Hillbilly Jim’s Gun Shop in Montrose, IA.  

     Jim was an avid flea marker shopper and had an eye for a great bargain.  He loved all types of guns and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

     He is survived by one daughter, Eleni Roberts of Burlington, IA, Naythen Brown of Keokuk, two grandchildren and one brother Gary Brown (Tracilyn) of Mechanicsville, MD.  

     He was preceded in death by his parents.

     A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor David Turner officiating.  Burial will be held in the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, IA. The service will be live streamed on Jim’s tribute wall on the Vigen Memorial Home webpage.

    Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 6-8 p.m.
