WEST POINT - A four-run third inning helped Cardinal wipe out a 2-0 run HTC lead and down the Crusaders 5-2 Tuesday night.

Anna Sobczak went 2 for 3 at the plate, while Mary Hellige and Kayla Box each had RBIs to lead Holy Trinity Catholic.

Cardinal opened the scoring in the top of the first when Emma Becker came around on a passed ball after reaching on an error, for an unearned 1-0 lead.

Sobczak and Brooke Mueller responded in the bottom half when they both reached first on one-out singles. Hellige followed with a single to center scoring Sobczak. Box made it four singles in a row with a shot to left plating Mueller for a 2-1 lead. Cardinal's Nicoa McClure retired the next two to end the threat.

That would be the only runs the Crusaders would get on the night, while Cardinal opened the game up in the third with two outs.

After Hellige got a ground out to short and strike out on three pitches, Becker lined a single to left followed by an Alexia McClure triple to center scoring Becker. Ave Ferrel then singled and Kinsey Hissem blasted a shot over the left field fence to make it 5-1 Cardinal. A ground out to third ended the rally.

Sobczak started things in the bottom of the third with an infield hit, but that would be the last hit of the night for the Crusaders. Kelli Meierotto would reach on a fielders choice and Laure Mehmert reached on an error in the fifth for the only other base runners of the night for Holy Trinity.

Hellige went the distance again for HTC (1-1) scattering 10 hits and giving up five runs, four earned, while striking out five and walking one.

Nicoa McClure got the win for Cardinal allowing just five hits and two earned runs on five Ks and a walk.

Holy Trinity's game Thursday with Central Lee was postponed due to weather. The Crusaders get back to action Friday at South Park against Danville (0-1).
