DONNELLSON — The Central Lee Community School District is searching for its next Activities Director.

According to Central Lee Superintendent Dr. Andy Crozier, the individual hired will replace Jerry Ireland, who has led the district’s activities and athletics for the past five years.

"Mr. Ireland has decided to step aside from the role and transition back to a full-time teaching position within Central Lee’s physical education department. He cited wanting to have more time to spend with his family—especially his grandchildren—over the next several years," Crozier wrote in a release Thursday morning.

“I’m grateful for the time, energy and leadership Mr. Ireland has provided Central Lee for the past five years. Serving as an AD is a time-intensive responsibility, and Jerry is always supervising or attending our school events. He and I had a great conversation about his future, and I support him prioritizing his family while continuing to serve our students and families.”

The district will immediately begin its search and aims to name the next AD by mid-June.

The news comes on the heels of the announcement last week from Fort Madison Community School District that it's AD, Jeremy Swink was leaving to take the same position with Prairie City Monroe in central Iowa.
