Narcotics task force makes four arrests

LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reports the arrest of several Lee County residents in connection with illegal drug activity in the area.
Amanda Davis, 37, of Fort Madison, Iowa was arrested on May 27th, 2021 at her residence in Fort Madison. Davis is charged with Delivery of More than 5 grams of Methamphetamine 2nd or subsequent offense within 1,000 feet of a Recreation Center a Class B Felony; Delivery of less than 5 grams of Methamphetamine 2nd or subsequent offense within 1,000 feet of a Recreation Center a Class C Felony; Drug Tax Stamp Violation- Methamphetamine a Class D Felony; Drug Tax Stamp Violation- Marijuana a Class D Felony; Maintaining a Drug House an Aggravated Misdemeanor; Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana 2nd or Subsequent Offense a Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance- Oxycodone 2nd or Subsequent Offense a Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor.
The arrest of Davis stems from a search warrant that was conducted in connection to an ongoing investigation by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force regarding Davis selling controlled substances throughout the Lee County area.
Mary Penrose, 58, of Keokuk, Iowa was arrested on May 28th, 2021 at the Lee County Jail after being transported from Clark County, MO jail. Penrose was arrested for maintaining a Drug House, an Aggravated Misdemeanor; 3 counts of Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs, each a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.
The arrest of Penrose stems from a search warrant that was conducted on her residence after responding to a report of a drug overdose that occurred inside her residence. Additional warrants have been issued for other individuals in connection with this investigation.
Eric Fortune Sr., 54, of Fort Madison, Iowa was arrested on June 1st, 2021 near Shopton Park in Fort Madison, Iowa. Fortune Sr. was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Offense- Methamphetamine, an Aggravated Misdemeanor; Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Offense- Marijuana, an Aggravated Misdemeanor; 3 counts of Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs, each a Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.
The arrest of Fortune stems from a search warrant that was conducted on his residence regarding a unrelated investigation.
Natasha McCarty, 34, of Keokuk, Iowa was arrested on June 6th, 2021 near Wal-Mart in Keokuk. McCarty was arrested for outstanding warrants for two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance- less than 5 grams of Methamphetamine, each a Class C Felony; and Theft 3rd Degree a Class D Felony.
The arrest of McCarty stems from an ongoing investigation conducted by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force where McCarty was selling methamphetamine throughout the Lee County area.
The Keokuk Police Department, Fort Madison Police Department, Department of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Lee County Attorney’s Office, assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in part or all of these investigations.
The defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Justice and the funds administered by the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy.
