Traffic stop leads to arrest of Keokuk couple

KEOKUK - The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reports the arrest of a Keokuk couple on Felony and Misdemeanor drug charges.

MEYERS

Dalton Meyers, 27, of Keokuk Iowa was arrested on June 26th, 2021 in the 100 block of S. 10th St. in Keokuk. Dalton was arrested for an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear/Contempt of Court. Dalton was also charged with Possession with intent to deliver Marijuana 2nd or Subsequent Offense a Class D Felony; Drug Tax Stamp Violation-Marijuana a Class D Felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd or Subsequent Offense- Psilocybin Mushrooms a Class D Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.

MEYERS

Miranda Meyers, 25, of Keokuk Iowa was also arrested on June 26th, 2021 in the 100 block of S. 10th St. in Keokuk. Miranda was charged with Possession with intent to deliver Marijuana a Class D Felony; Drug Tax Stamp Violation-Marijuana a Class D Felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance- Psilocybin Mushrooms a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.    

The arrest of both Dalton and Miranda stems from a traffic stop conducted by the Keokuk Police Department for a vehicle registration violation which lead to the discovery of the couple being in possession of a large quantity of various types of controlled substances. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force was called to assist in furthering the investigation.

The Keokuk Police Department, and the Lee County Attorney’s Office, assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in this investigation. The defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The Lee County Narcotics Task Force is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Justice and the funds administered by the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy
