Joyce Ann Lear, 73, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, Fort Madison.  She was born October 14, 1947 in Iowa, a daughter of Salvador and Agapita (Ramirez) Gonzales.  

Joyce was a graduate of Fort Madison High School and lived in the Fort Madison area all of her life.  She worked for years at Sheaffer Pen.  She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the River Bend Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Kingdom Hall, Montrose, Iowa.  Joyce was outgoing, enjoyed cooking and traveling.  

She is survived by one son, Eric Lear of Ottumwa, Iowa; five siblings:  Salvador (Rachel) Gonzales of Spring Grove, Iowa; Vino (Sandy) Gonzales of Arizona; Richard (Rhonda) Gonzales of Fort Madison; Rosie (Jim) Burdette of Fort Madison and  John Messmer of Texas; and numerous nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, who died as a young child.
