Arlena Pearl Hayden, 77, of Hamilton, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Arlena was born on August 25, 1943, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and Patsy (Deshong) Cook. On December 7, 1969, she was united in marriage to Meredith Hayden in Hamilton, Illinois. He survives.

Arlena worked for thirty-eight years at Dryden’s Rubber Plant (Sheller-Globe), until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of the Steel Worker’s Union #444, and was a part of their Ladies of Steel (SWAT Team) Group. She balanced a life of work and taking care of her family well, cooking every meal from scratch and keeping her house immaculate. Some of her best recipes included chili, divinity and pork chops with Spanish rice. Arlena was also a Mary Kay consultant. In her free time, Arlena enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was also a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Hamilton.

Arlena is survived by her husband Meredith of Hamilton; her daughter Sharon Bayliff of Hamilton; two grandchildren: Shykel (Dakota) Olson and Donoven Bayliff of Keokuk; her great-granddaughter Penelope Olson of Keokuk; two sisters: Janice Lee and Kerry (Dean) Pence of Hamilton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arlena is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Patsy Gooding and Alice Childers.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1 to 3 pm directly before the service.
