SIRMC reopens FM COVID respiratory center

Saliva tests available at Walk-In clinic and LCHD

FORT MADISON – Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center-Fort Madison is reestablishing its respiratory center for people who have symptoms associated with COVID-19.

Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 18, Fort Madison-area residents seeking nonemergency care for coughing and difficulty breathing should make an appointment to be examined in the Walk-In Clinic, 5409 Avenue O, Suite 120, Fort Madison. The telephone number is 319-376-2134.

Patients seeking care for minor illnesses and injuries without an appointment will be seen in the Family Medicine clinic, 5409 Avenue O.

People with no symptoms who are seeking COVID-19 testing may pick up a Test Iowa Home Test Kit in the Walk-In Clinic entrance to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center-Fort Madison and Lee County Health Department. The test process is simple:

  • Activate the test kit online.
  • Take a saliva sample as directed.
  • Drop off the sample at the nearest UPS location.

Test results will be available within 24 hours after the test is received in the laboratory. This test is not accepted for airline travel.
