William “Butch” Charles Lee Blanchard, 69, of Brownsville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Butch was born on February 4, 1952, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of William C. and Deloris (Cramer) Blanchard. On February 7, 1970, he was united in marriage to Joy Smith in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.

Butch was an entrepreneur, and held many jobs throughout his life, including cutting wood, owning and operating Blanchard Snow and Ice Removal, working in factories for many years (where he was a certified firefighter), and truck driving for several companies, including USA Trucking. He had a love for the great outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and boating. He loved going off-road in his truck and racking up miles on his motorcycle. Butch was the Maverick of the slot machines, and often tried his luck “Ching-Chinging” at the casino. Butch proudly served his country in the United States Navy, receiving his honorable discharge.

Butch is survived by his wife Joy Blanchard of Hamilton, Illinois; four children: William (Sarah) Blanchard of Montrose, Iowa, Mary (Andy Gregory) Blanchard of Hamilton, James (Brittany) Blanchard of Hamilton, and John England of Hamilton; his sister Margaret Brosi of Alcoa, Tennessee, his aunt Emma Cathey of Brownsville, Tennessee, seven grandchildren: Rikki Blanchard, Samantha Spiker, Christopher Blanchard, Shaine Blanchard, Selena Blanchard, Riley Blanchard and Seth Blanchard; and his brother-in-law Virgil Davis of Kalona, Iowa. Other survivors include many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Butch is preceded in death by his parents William and Deloris Blanchard, his son Charles “Chuck” Blanchard, his sister Christina Davis, and his in-laws Riley and Frances Smith.

Butch’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 3 pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from noon to 3 pm directly before the service.
