Central Lee middle schoolers top VB

DONNELLSON - The Central Lee 7th and 8th graders combined in a middle school football game Tuesday night and downed Van Buren 22-8.

Brett Cook was 2 of 5 passing for 8 yards. Cook also had 70 yards on the ground. Gage Van Ausdall had 69 yards on five carries and Colton Taft had 16 yards on five carries. Carson Morrison had 24 yards and a rushing touchdown in a '5th' quarter

Davis led Central Lee with four solo tackles and two assists. Cook had three solo tackles and an assist
Morrison had four solo tackles and an interception. Owen Swan had a solo tackle and scored a defensive TD on a fumble recovery

The Central Lee Middle School football team is now 2-0 on the season. They will be at home on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021 vs. West Burlington/ND. Kickoff is at 5pm.There will be two games on this night.

“Our guys gave another great team effort to pick up another victory. Our offense battled through some penalties but got the job done in the first half. Our line is really learning to sustain blocks opening up good holes for our running backs," said coach Kritter Hayes

“The team played hard and we played a lot of different players on each side of the ball. Our kickoff team set the tone by not allowing Van Buren good field position and did that throughout the game once again. We are proud of how things are progressing with this group," said head coach Kent Brisby
