Weigand third at Timm Lamb Invitational

FORT MADISON - Sophomore Paetyn Wiegand was 13 seconds off the pace in the Timm Lamb Invitational at Fort Madison Middle School Thursday evening.

Weigand ran the 5K in 22:32.2 behind Muscatine's Taya Melendez at 22:22.0 and top finisher Quincy Griffiths of Washington who ran the course at 22:19.5

Raquel Schneider was next for the Lady Hounds completing the course in 21st at 25:41.9. Allison Lamb scored with a 23rd-place finish, and Hailey Kemper and Jordyn Burch rounded out the scoring runners for Fort Madison with 24th and 25th place finishes.

Alexa Walls and Lillian Gelsthorpe finished 26th and 27th for Fort Madison.

Fort Madison finished fourth as a team with 96 points. Muscatine won the event with 37 points.

In the Boys B event, Fort Madison's took 6th place with 92 points.

Hayden Wolfe took 5th place overall with a time of 18:19.8. Austin Miller was second for the Hounds and 17th scoring overall with a time of 19:50.9. John Cotrell and Will Gager were 21st and 22nd overall, while Calvin Johnson wrapped up the scoring runners for Fort Madison, with a 27th place finish.

Jacob Shottenkirk (39th), Ben Thele (40th), Cameron Shutwell (61st), Gavyn Siemens (67), Ethan Huffman (79th) and Jack Johnstun (80th) also participated for Fort Madison.

In the girls A division, Central Lee's Addy Brumble finished 11th overall with a time of 26:34.7, followed by Erika Chambers (15th) at 27:58.4. Lauren Sanders was 18th at 28:33.4 and Addy Britt was 24th at 30:52.0.

The boy's A run, Central Lee and Holy Trinity Catholic tied for fourth in the team competition with 92 points each. Grant Anderson led Central Lee with a time of 20:26.5. Ayden Kent was 13th overall with a time of 21:17.6. Jackson Denning and Leo Thomas were 20th and 21st, while Tristan Howell rounded out the scoring runners with a 28th place finish.

Brenden Mulligan (36th), Westyn Fraher (50th), Andrew Underwood (53rd), and Ethan Porter (54) also ran for the Hawks.

Holy Trinity was paced by Mitchell and Jacob Pothitakis who finished with 11th and 12th place marks in the run. Sheldon Kruse, Edward Schroeder, and Maddux Rung rounded out the top five scoring finishes for the Crusaders.

Tate Green (31st) and Connor Gehling (41) also participated for the HTC.

FM boys and girls win 2000 meter runs

In the junior high runs, Fort Madison took the top three places with Nolan Guzman setting the pace at 12:49.9 in the 2000 meters. Mason McLey was second at 13:01.6 and Hunter Wiegand was third at 13:08.0. Owen Menke was 15th overall at 14:18.8. Jake Haessig was 19th at 14:41.1 Jackson Haessig and Riley Tripp were 22nd and 23rd overall, while Logan Pomberg was 36th overall, Jonah Santiago was 44th overall and Charley Huebner was 48th. Torey Potter finished 67th.

In the girls run, Avery Rump took the title with a time of 13:51.2. Addison Rump was right behind in 34rd with a time of 14:41.6. Hadley Wolfe was 6th in scoring with at 15:46.5, and Ellie Heubner were 6th and 7th overall. Caralena Crooks finished 12th with a time of 17:23.1 to round out the scoring runners.

Kaydey Plate finished 17th for the Little Lady Hounds.
