The following is a listing of events in the north Lee County area that have been submitted to Pen City Current.

Trains Across Iowa
Rudy Daniels will be giving a historical perspective at the CB&Q Depot Building starting at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 in Fort Madison. He will also be giving a Saturday presentation at the Historic Keokuk Union Depot starting at 3 p.m.

Denmark God's Portion Day
The Denmark United Church of Christ's God's Portion Day will be held Oct. 9 with opening ceremonies at 10:15 a.m. Booths will be open from 10:20 to 11:45 and chicken noodle dinner drive up begins at noon. The annual parade will start at 10:30 a.m. with a live auction starting at noon at the shelter weather permitting. There is also a cash raffle with $2,500, $1,000 and $500 prizes. Only 300 tickets will be sold.

Newberry Center Cookie Decorating
The Madison will be hosting a Cookie Decorating class starting at 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the center on Avenue G in Fort Madison. The class is free and is hosted by Bake-A-Wish by Cathy.

Senior BINGO
The Newberry Center is offering BINGO to those 60 and older every Tuesday starting at 1:15 p.m. Cards are .25 each and there are 10 games per week. Money and prizes are awarded with a special prize on the 10th game. The event is hosted by The Madison.

Old Fort Players Fall Play
As Long As We Both Shall Live will take the stage on Oct. 8-10 and 15-17. The wedding day whodunnit will start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $15 for adults, seniors/military vets $12 and students 5-17 $10 and are available at www.oldfortplayers.com or by calling 319-372-9559.

IowaWORKS Job Fair
Iowa Works will be holding a job fair in the Heartland Harley-Davidson parking lot at 117 S. Roosevelt in Burlington from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. September 30. Employers will be on hand as well as a resource center, resume help, mock interviews, onsite career navigators and more.

Family Fun Day at Old Settlers Park
The 6th annual family fun day is planned for Oct. 30 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Business and families are encouraged to reserve a picnic table and hand out treats in a safe controlled environment. Call Sheryl Decker at 372-7813 to reserve a table. Rain date is Oct. 31 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All friends, neighbors and businesses are invited.

Miles & Memories
The 14th annual Miles & Memories 5K Run/Walk is at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 on the Great River Health campus 1221 S. Gear Ave, presented by Two Rivers Financial Group The event supports Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House. Online registration is available at https://bit.ly/MilesMemories Entry fee is $15 up to 12 years of age and $25 for 13 and older. After Oct. 16, entry fees will increase by $5 and shirts are not guaranteed.

Parade of Lights Work Nights
The Parade of Lights committee will begin working on parade floats Monday, Oct. 4, at the warehouse on the south side of 12th Street and Avenue I. Work nights will continue each Monday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. until Nov. 26. Volunteers can enter on the south side of the building.

All Booked Up
The Fort Madison Public Library's All Booked Up will meet Thursday Oct. 7 to discuss "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King at the library.

Paint with a local artist
The Madison is hosting a painting session with a local artist on Dec. 10 at 1:15 p.m. presented by Fort Madison Area Arts Association. The event is free and canvas and paints will be provided at the Newberry Senior Center in downtown Fort Madison.
