FORT MADISON - Last weekend, the Fort Madison High School Green Team weeded the Old Settlers Park bandstandas a service project of the environmentally friendly student run club.
Kay Petersen, and John McCannon - both teachers at FMHS - worked with students to clear the weeds and brush around the base to prepare for fall and Old Settlers HALLOWEEN IN THE PARK on October 30 from 3-5 pm and for the upcoming Holidays.
The group's purpose according to Will Gager, President, is to help Fort Madison parks look their best and help promote environmental awareness. They recently picked up trash at Rodeo Park after the Tri-State Rodeo weekend.
"The students were a huge help - and a blessing as oursmall grouphas a hard time keeping up with the weeds." We welcomed help gathering the large sticks on the ground and picking up trash as well as weeding numerous bench areas," stated Decker.
"We were so pleased when Kay offered assistance from her "GREEN TEAM" The bandstand is now ready for winter."
