Anna Marie Kaneer Wright, 90 of Keokuk, IA died Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Blessing Health Keokuk.

     She was born December 31, 1930 in Wahoo, NE the daughter of F. Louis and Anna Meyers Kaneer.

     On January 8, 1954 she was united in marriage to Allen W. Wright.  He preceded her in death on February 19, 2019.

     She traveled many places with her husband while he was serving in the United States Army.  She worked as a telephone operator, she was a waitress, even managing a café in Keokuk, called The Green Door.  She also worked with her son and daughter in law, in their restaurant in Wayland, MO and she loved being around people.  She always wanted to open a restaurant again.  She had been employed at places like Motorola, Methode Electronics, Sheller Globe and other factories.  

     She loved sewing, often making clothes for her children.  She crocheted many items like tablecloths, afghans, baby clothes and dolls.  She did a lot of canning and cooking.  She often did crossword puzzles and read books.  She loved listening to music like the Gaithers, Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline, among many others.

     She was very active before losing her sight.  She played Bingo, went flea market shopping, loved going to the casino and giving rides to many friends that needed it.  If someone needed something she was willing to step in and help.  She gave to many charities like St. Jude, St. Joseph Indian School and Boys Town.  She donated to the food centers, donated toys to benefits and clothing to places like the Hope Center.  She would sit and hold other children in hospital when their parents were not available.  

     Anna loved all her grandchildren, family and loved when they would come and visit her.  She also loved feeding and watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds. 

     She is survived by a son, Frank (Joy) Wright of Wayland, MO, one daughter, Debbie (Wally) McClain of Keokuk, six grandchildren, Kody Wright, Harley Wright, Kelsey (Brandon) Murphy, Chastity (Tory) McClain-Rhea, Teresa McClain and Matthew McClain, eight great grandchildren, Ezzrick, Mason, Grayson, Holden, Kierstyn, Tori, Caitlyn, Ian  and one great great grandchild, Legend.  She is also survived by three sisters, Maxine Pate of Batesville, AR, Loretta Nye of Keokuk and Barb Davis of Wayland, MO and several nieces and nephews. 

     She was preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Lynn, one son, Allen Wayne, two grandsons, James Wright and Franklin Wright, her parents, and several sisters and one brother.

     A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Wesley Davis officiating.

     Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Thursday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with family meeting with friends from 5-7 p.m.

     Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
