Lady Hounds split in Southeast opener

MT. PLEASANT - The Fort Madison girls volleyball team split in the opening night of the Southeast Conference tournament Tuesday night in Mt. Pleasant.

The Bloodhounds knocked off Fairfield 25-12, 25-17 serving 93% for the match and converting 24 kills with only two hitting errors.

Eve Ruble had eight kills, while Alaina Simpson and Anna Lynk each added seven. Molly Knipe was 7 of 7 serving with a couple aces and 18 assists. Lynk was 11 of 12 serving with two aces. Madison Pirri had 12 digs and Simpson had 11.

The Hounds then lost to Mt. Pleasant 25-17 25-14. Lynk had eight kills and the Hounds got another strong service match. Lauryn Helmick was six of six and Pirri had nine digs. Knipe and Ruble each had seven digs.

The Hounds move to 7-17 on the year and play in the Durant Tournament on Saturday before finishing up the conference tournament on Tuesday night at Fairfield. Fort Madison will tangle with Burlington, Washington and Keokuk Tuesday night.
